“8 Step Claim Filing Process”
Contact your local agent to report claim – The best way to do this is in writing.
Take pictures or videos of all your property – Make sure you have a record of your possessions to strengthen your claim.
Keep your receipts – Keep receipts from all your hurricane related expenses, including alternative living expenses and expenses for temporary repairs.
Point out all damage to the adjuster – This helps make sure you get the best possible result in your initial estimate.
Contact your own contractors – Get independent contractors to provide you with additional estimates of the repairs your home needs.
Compare the estimate from the insurance company to those of your own contractors – A difference in these estimates could indicate a problem.
Provide your contractor's estimates to your insurance company – Request that your insurance company accept the amount from your contractors as the necessary amount to repair your home.
Contact Brent Coon & Associates – If the insurance company refuses to pay what is covered under the policy and necessary to repair your home, it may be time to contact Brent Coon & Associates. Bring your entire hurricane file with you when you come for your free one-on-one consultation.
